CCBF – Strengthening the third sector

Takunda is the Charity Manager for CCBF. He is a resourceful and insightful team-player who brings to CCBF a diverse set of skills and a passion for strengthening the third sector.

Inspired by his time volunteering for Citizen’s Advice whilst at university, Takunda developed a strong interest for charitable work and the impact third sector organisations can have on the lives of their beneficiaries. Keen to utilise his experience and his educational background in Law to make a tangible impact in the third sector, Takunda jumped at the opportunity to volunteer with CCBF.

He has been able to immediately help individuals and unincorporated voluntary organisations set up new charities by creating governing documents, compiling critical formation documents, and submitting them to the Charity Commission, while also providing support for our capacity building services.

CCBF was founded by charity expert Sam. Having worked in the voluntary sector for over two decades she has first-hand experience of the types of challenges many smaller voluntary sector organisations face. In addition to her professional experience, Sam has obtained two degrees including a BA Hons in Informal and Community Education and a BA Hons in Biblical and Intercultural Studies. She is a qualified NLP practitioner, and has completed the Arrow Leadership Development Qualification, an intensive 18-month leadership programme. Sam set up CCBF with a clear purpose to raise funds and provide strategic guidance for grass-root organisations so they can go on to benefit others.

Sam’s passion for the third sector began early. She first started volunteering at the age of 15 for the Ascension Eagles Cheerleaders in the London Borough of Newham where she grew up.

Her talent for community development was quickly spotted and she went on to be mentored by Charity Leader Shara Brice MBE. She has worked with communities ever since, including a Favela in Brazil and a project in Chicago to work with reformed gang members.

While she works with many different organisations, a constant theme of Sam’s work is enabling transformation, strengthening relationships, and empowering others. She has a strong reputation for strengthening non-profits while raising substantial funds. She has gained her knowledge and expertise by working with a diverse range of charities and organisations in both operational and strategic roles.
